Our History

In August 1989 Abimael and Lynne Rodriguez, and their four children, Peter, Paul, David and Janna, responded God's calling to come and study at the Latin American Bible Institute, in La Puente, CA.  They sold their home in Abbotsford, B.C., Canada and travelled to La Puente, with the desire to prepare themselves to serve the Lord.

NEW LIFE CHURCH was birthed in November 1989, with a congregation of 9 people - the Rodriguez family and 3 L.A.B.I. students.  We began in the dining room of an Assemblies of God church, on La Rica Street, in Baldwin Park.  We worked arduously through personal evangelism, and the church grew quickly.  A year later, with a congregation of over 70, we moved our services to another location in Baldwin Park, on Badillo St.  There we faced many difficulties in that it was not a church building, but God gave us numerous souls for His Kingdom.  We were always in prayer that the Lord would grant us a sanctuary, consecrated to Him, and our prayers were answered in April 1996, when the doors of Walnut Valley Assembly of God, on Rorimer St, La Puente, CA opened for us.  This church had a Hispanic department, and with the pastor's approval, these members became part of the New Life congregation.  For eleven glorious years we worked in the area of La Puente, until in July 2007, the Lord moved us to Rowland Heights, to win more souls and enlarge His Kingdom in that city.  In May 2009, we purchased a beautiful retreat camp in Perris, CA.  Now "New Life Oasis" is completely remodeled and offers its services to other churches in need of a place for a spiritual retreat.  In September 2010, we adopted a new congregation, in Parker, Colorado.  We also have 5 mission churches in 5 rural areas of Mexicali, B.C., Mexico.

Twice a year, we organize a Missions Festival.

The Four Fundamental Truths

of the Assemblies of God

NEW LIFE CHURCH IS AFFILIATED WITH THE ASSEMBLIES OF GOD GENERAL COUNCIL.

Salvation through Jesus Christ

Salvation is liberation from spiritual death and slavery to sin.  God gives salvation to all who believe in Him and accept His free offer of forgiveness.  The only hope of redemption for humanities' fallen state of sin, is through the blood of Jesus Christ, the Son of God - blood that was shed when Jesus died on the cross.  (Matthew 27, Mark 15, Luke 23, John 19.  Also see Luke 24:47; John 3:3,16,17; Romans 8:16; 10:13-15; Ephesians 2:8,9; 4:24; Titus 2:11-12; 3:5-7).

Divine Healing

Divine healing is an integral part of the gospel. Liberation from sickness was provided in the expiation, and is the privilege of all believers. (Isaiah 53:4,5; Matthew 8:16,17; James 5:14-16)

Baptism in the Holy Spirit

All believers can receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and therefore, should wait for and earnestly seek the Father's promise, according to the command of our Lord Jesus Christ. This was the normal experience of all Christians in the primitive Christian church. With this experience comes the provision of power for a victorious Christian life and for productive service. It also provides specific spiritual gifts for a more effective ministry. The baptism in the Holy Spirit is accompanied by the initial physical evidence of speaking in tongues (not a learned language) as the Spirit allows them to be expressed (Luke 24:49; Acts 1:4,8; 2:4; 8:12-17; 10:44-46; 11:14-16; 15:7-9; 1 Corinthians 12:1-31).

The Second Coming of Christ

All Christians who have died will one day be raised from their tombs and will be reunited with the Lord in the air. Those Christians who have not died will be lifted up as well, to be with the Lord. Thus, Christians from all ages will live forever with the Lord. The biblical truth of the soon coming of the Lord is "our blessed hope." (Romans 8:23; 1 Corinthians 15:51-52; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; Titus 2:13).

The Vision

To see a new creation in every believer, equipped by God to make disciples through Jesus' example and the cell group ministry, thus reproducing the perfect work of Christ in the believer.

The Mission

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations" - Mathew 28:19,20

New Life Church's purpose is:

GIVE the good news of salvation to every person. (John 3:3-5)

DISCIPLE each person according to the Holy Scriptures. (Phil. 4:13)

EQUIP each person so that they will SERVE God and others. (Mat. 25:35,36,40)
